Due to the passing of Viv Betteridge, it has become necessary to review Club policy regarding the Rescue
Service. Committee acknowledges that it will not be possible to provide the level of service previously provided.
Consequently, the following guidelines will be implemented:

1. The following categories will be introduced:

Rescue:
a) Found dogs where the owner is unknown
b) Urgently surrendered dogs
c) Dogs at risk

A donation to the club would be asked for.

Adoption: Rehousing of older dogs where circumstances of current owners have changed. (This would include
ex show/breeding stock). This would be a service the club provides and conditions of exchange would be
between the dogs current and future owners. A fee of $10 would be charged to members and $20 to
non-members would be payable to the club.

2. The club will only take responsibility for dogs when all other avenues have been exhausted.

3. That the club endorses the policy that the dog be offered back to the breeder first.

4. The possibility of having access to a multi-system scanner to check for microchipping of "found" dogs will be
investigated.

5. That we advertise any found dogs in the print media eg Trading Post

6. That in the case of older dogs with health problems we "follow the advice of veterinarians" with euthanasia
being a last resort.

7. That we have a central coordinator and a network of regional coordinators who can be called upon when
urgent rescue cases arise.

That one page on our website provides information on both puppies and adoption of older dogs. Perhaps
something like:

That we implement a regular e-update for members who are on the internet which would include among other
things dogs which are available for adoption.
